Rota rims which are manufactured in the Philippines, are notorious through the automotive tuning community for not being able to handle much stress or impacts before breaking. This is because anything that is a copy of something else isn't made to the same specs during the manufacturing process. The quality of work is lowered to make the copy more affordable than the original, hence the reason for people buying them.

The Rota wheels contact page includes a photo manipulated image of a Porsche and a Lotus parked at the factory, quite an obvious and embarrassing web design decision.
