Removal

New ZX2 water pump.

1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Remove the splash shield.

   

4. Loosen the bolts retaining the water pump pulley. Sometimes a visegrip with chain may be required to keep the water pump pulley from spinning, this can usually be purchased at most auto parts stores.

   

5. Remove the drive belt.
6. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the A/C compressor and position it out of the way.

   

7. Remove the water pump from the middle timing belt cover.

   

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

   

   

2. Fill the cooling system.
3. Start the engine and check all hoses and connections for leaks. Allow the engine to warm up so that the water thermostat opens.
4. Stop the engine. Top off the coolant recovery reservoir as necessary to maintain minimum cold fill level.
