Materials

  • Accessory Drive Belt. Part # for A/C JK6-856-AA or 1F1Z-8620-AB. If possible, a dayco belt should be purchased. They usually don't cost too much more, but are of very good quality.

Tools

  • 10mm socket w/small ratchet
  • 10mm socket w/small ratchet
  • 13mm socket w/Large ratchet
  • 1 wire clothes hanger

Removal

  1. (Optional) Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the 4-5 10mm bolts that hold the shroud underneath the engine.
  3. Attach the ratchet w/13mm socket to the belt tensioner bolt, and turn the ratchet towards the rear of the vehicle. This will require some force, as the tensioner is spring loaded. Lock the tensioner in place by placing the ratchet behind one of the bolts of the A/C compressor.
  4. Remove the old belt. This may require some twisting, to get the belt out from around the pulleys.
  5. Or you could just cut the belt with a knife/blade and save a lot of trouble.

Installation

Reverse the removal procedure, using the following picture for drive belt routing. The clothes hanger comes in handy here, to route the pulley under the motor mount. I started at the bottom, with the Crankshaft damper and A/C, and worked my way around the tensioner to the generator. Might work better the opposite way, but I wasn't about to pull it back off! Also, if you remove the coolant reservoir to create more space on the top to work. This involves removing the 10mm bolt and 10mm nut that holds it in place.
