The K code hybrid VAF is the same size as the B code RX-7 VAF but uses the U code or S code guts so the car still thinks it's a U code but flows WAY more air, it needs to be adjusted just like the B code, 5 to 6 clicks CCW seems to be perfect, I set mine at 5 clicks CCW and it works great! my A/F gauge reads good just like the U code same patterns in the A/F mix! the K code VAF's are found on the 1st gen probes with the 2.2 12 valve and possibly others I am not sure, just gotta get out there and look!
ok after reading that, look at these pics to make the connection if you need to, enjoy! and fly past stock GT's, I lost miserably to Silverton when he had his B code and I was still running a U code, other than that we were almost identical mods and what not, he just ran away at the top of 2nd and kept pulling in 3rd, don't be a me!
Remove this wire just gently pull it off.
Pull these 2 wires off that go to the temp sensor.
Remove the black connector, 2 screws and just gently pull it out and break the solder connections, and just bend the tabs down to make the connection when reinstalling, no need to solder!
Remove the allen head screw, I think it's a #3 or whatever, I used a T-15 bit it is just a bit too small but works just fine, then that black arm will come off, be VERY CAREFUL when pulling the black arm off, the wires that ride on the black contact are very delicate!!!
Now that the black arm, and black connector are out, now remove the 3 screws that hold the circuit board in and make sure you mark your teeth wheel in the stock location for future reference or you'll have fun tuning! mark both K and U code in stock locations! when you remove these 3 screws it's gonna unwind a bit.
Just put your U guts into the K code and reverse the steps and put it all back together, when you put it back together the black arm should be pretty easy to see where it needs to go, make sure the metal part of the black arm hits the fuel cutoff tab and just separates the contacts, not too much but not at all is bad! it'll line right up if you just wiggle it in place with the screw semi tight, when it's in the right spot just crank the allen head down and check to make sure there's a slight gap to make the fuel cut work!
So turn the K code hybrid wheel 5 to 6 clicks CCW to RICHEN it up, I did 5 and it doesn't feel too lean at all! the gauge reads good on it too, so 5 clicks richer seems to be PERFECT, and drive! if it's good silicone the black cover back on and enjoy your K code hybrid VAF!!! if you have general know how you can do this, it is NOT that hard really, looks harder than it is!
