Dodge Neon shift knob replacement
From Mechanical Database
This guide was written while installing Momo shift knobs.
- To remove the current shift knob, take the shift boot and pull it down.
- The shift knob locks into place on both sides, via small locking pins, which make taking the shift knob on or off easy.
- Pull the tabs of the shift knob OUT towards the doors and then slide the whole thing up.
As you may have noticed, the BASE of your factory shift knob was tapered to a certain degree. This allowed for the rubber boot to slide up and STAY without falling back down. However, with an aftermarket shift knob that wont happen, so something is needed to keep it up. A good way around this is to fabricate a rubber washer to hold it up.
