Required parts & tools Release handle, p/n 4658893 $12.00. Cable, p/n 4658815 $15.50. 2 sheet metal screws, ~3/4" long. Ratchet. 3 in extension. 10mm and 15mm sockets. T50 and T55 Torx bits for ratchet. Utility knife. Screwdriver to fit your sheet metal screws.

1. Pop out the back seat cushion and set it aside.
2. Use the T55 Torx bit to remove the rear seat belt bolts.
3. Lift up on the seat back to free it from its mounts, but do not remove it.
4. Remove the 4 bolts holding the driver's seat in.
5. Remove the driver's seat and set aside.
6. Use T50 Torx bit to remove the driver's seat belt bolt at the door sill.
7. Open the trunk and unbolt the trunk latch.
8. Examine both ends of the trunk release cable and the release handle. One end of the cable is obviously the one that goes on the handle. Connect the other end to the trunk latch.
9. Clip the cable sheath into the holder on the latch and reinstall the latch.
10. Pull back the carpeting on the left rear of the trunk and feed the cable down the tunnel that heads towards the back seat.
11. Secure the cable in the clips that hold the license plate light wires.
12. Locate the other cable end in back seat area and fish it under the carpet towards the driver's seat.
13. Pull up the carpet in the area of the driver's seat and grab the cable end.
14. Feed it through the holes in the seat reinforcing rib where it meets the door sill. If you don't feed the cable through these holes it may not stay attached to the release handle properly.
15. The release handle mounts to the door sill to the left of, and just in front of, the driver's seat. Find the two small holes drilled in the door sill (under the carpet) that match the spacing of the mounting holes on the release handle. Cut a hole in the carpeting between the mounting holes and pull the cable end through.
16. Attach the cable end to the moving part of the release handle and the sheath to the fixed part.
17. Drill 2 holes through the carpet where the sheet metal screws will pass through from the handle into the door sill. The handle will amply cover these holes, so make them big enough that you can line things up easily.
18. Screw the release handle to the door sills.
19. You may have some extra cable length, so feed the excess back into the rear footwell area.
20. Fiddle around with the mounting if needed so the cable doesn't make a sharp turn anywhere and the carpet will all fit back in place properly.
21. Test the trunk release several times to make sure everything stays in place.
22. Complete the installation by following steps 7-1 in reverse order.
