A modular clutch that is commonly found in Neons is a pre-assembled pressure plate, clutch disc, and flywheel in one unit. It bolts onto the same crankshaft-mounted driveplate that the automatic transmission Neons use. It cannot be disassembled for service, only replaced with a new unit.

Chrysler made the decision to use this setup to simplify the assembly process in the Belvidere assembly plant. This allowed for the installation of the automatic transmission style driveplates on all engines, and eilminated the need to align the clutch disc inside the pressure plate, since the assembly is self-aligning.
