Dodge Neon manual conversion
From Mechanical Database
Converting an automatic Neon to a manual is not too difficult of a task.
Required parts
- Manual trans.
- Clutch assembly with flywheel.
- Clutch cable.
- Manual transmission pedal assembly.
- Shifter assembly.
- Shift cables
Optional requirements
- Manual ECU. This is nice to have but not absolutely required. The car can still run off of an Automatic ECU.
- Shift cable gasket to floorpan.
- Shifter cable bushings. Most bushings found in used Neons have a tendency to break apart and will result in an extremely loose shifter. The best source is Booger bushings from boogerracing.com.
The best way to obtain all of the parts for a decent price is to buy a donor car from sources like craigslist or to visit the local junkyards. Buying the parts new would be well over $ 2,000.
