Dodge Neon manual conversion

Converting an automatic Neon to a manual is not too difficult of a task.

Required parts

  • Manual trans.
  • Clutch assembly with flywheel.
  • Clutch cable.
  • Manual transmission pedal assembly.
  • Shifter assembly.
  • Shift cables

Optional requirements

  • Manual ECU. This is nice to have but not absolutely required. The car can still run off of an Automatic ECU.
  • Shift cable gasket to floorpan.
  • Shifter cable bushings. Most bushings found in used Neons have a tendency to break apart and will result in an extremely loose shifter. The best source is Booger bushings from boogerracing.com.

The best way to obtain all of the parts for a decent price is to buy a donor car from sources like craigslist or to visit the local junkyards. Buying the parts new would be well over $ 2,000.
