The wiring harness is a direct replacement for the existing wiring harness except with all new connectors exactly in the right places and they all fit. However this wiring harness is not compatible with Neons that included a sun roof. Taking out the weather stripping, trim pieces, sun visors (lighted vanity mirrors), and existing rear view mirror took longer than to put in the new items.
- Remove existing mirror with Phillips screwdriver.
- Remove sun visors retaining clips with Phillips screwdriver.
- Remove sun visors with Torx driver. Visors will be hanging by the pink power cord for the lighted vanity mirrors.
- Disconnect power cord at yellow connecting point (squeeze and pull).
- Pull weather stripping away from doors, from the dash up to the B pillar. This will allow the headliner to move away from the roof so you can access the wiring.
- Remove the A pillar trim panels.
- Remove dash cover, t just pops up from the instrument cluster.
- Disconnect the red connector on the dash in front of driver.
- Pull existing wiring harness out of A pillar and roof. Be careful not to damage headliner as it may crease easily. The pliers may help in removing the black plugs from the metal frame of car.
- Connect NEW harness into RED connector in dash and install black plugs into metal frame of car.
- Feed pink power wires thu holes for sun visor vanity mirrors
- Connect power to sun visors and reinstall visors and retaining clips.
- Clip connector into back of new Lighted Rear View Mirror and install onto windshield.
- Check lights. If no lights or door chime activate when the key is in the ignition and the door is open, check the fuse block int he engine compartment. It is a red 10 amp fuse in a grey enclosure.
- Reinstall the A pillar trim and weather stripping. The flat head screwdriver helps in pushing the edges into the proper places.
- Finish beverage while enjoying completed handiwork.
